3/6/08 - NEW Photo Gallery

Apologies for the lack of updates recently but the AGM caused a little blip in proceedings! Things are getting back to normal now and thanks to the arrival of a new volunteer, Donna Oxley, we now have the beginnings a fantastic new gallery. Its completely different to any we have had in the past as it includes a description of the animal and other details about them. This gives prospective adopter's a greater insight into the animal before they've even met it, thereby increasing the likelihood of a success. Check it out, its great. Remember though this page is still in its infancy and is being enhanced on a weekly basis. Check it out regularly to see its progress and meet the pets we are currently caring for.

10/4/08 - New Home for the FORUM

As you may be aware, for some time now Ive been looking for a new home for our Forum as the one we currently use is Web based freebie hosted by an external site. As such they ply the Forum with unsolicited adverts which are directly connected to the content of the Forum.

In itself this is not too bad, however when a friend told me that some of the pets and services that were being advertised  were from 'less than desirable' retailers my search began immediately.

Recently we were fortunate enough to be contacted by Paul Bateman of http://www.designit-solutions.co.uk/ who offered us free webspace for life along with a parallel free Forum!

The website and forum have now been 'rehomed' within Paul's server without any disruption to service for which I am eternally grateful.

For new and existing users of the Forum simply click the Forum link (on the left there) and log in with your details for the first time. If you have not visited the forum before please spare a moment to drop by and share your experiences with us. We need your input!

Thanks again to all involved!

2/4/08    -     Sponsorship Help!

For some time now we at BARC have been trying to launch a Sponsorship scheme for animals lovers. As you know we always have loads of pets with us that are desperately seeking, loving new homes.

However, to get such a scheme off the ground we need someone who has good connections with the printing world.

Our current staff do not have the time, resources or skills to publish many of the documents needed to launch a sponsorship programme. Can you help?

We need someone who can spare an hour or so, every now and again to help prepare and print many of our organisations brochures, flyers, tickets and leaflets.

Please help if you can! This new programme will help generate much needed funds for BARC so that we can continue to treat, rehabilitate and rehome these desperate animals.

Contact me directly at sean.benson@sky.com or ring me on 07931 581693.

Thank you!

02/04/08

We have been inundated here with calls from people with unplanned litters of  baby rabbits .

PLEASE , PLEASE ,PLEASE, if you get a pair of rabbits check their sex .... take them to a vet ...or contact us ...if you can bring them to us we will check their sex for you .

Rabbits can breed from 14 weeks old . A rabbit who has had a litter of kits can mate and become pregnant within minutes of giving birth.

A female rabbit can have anything up to 8 kits . In 1 month she can give birth to the same again . Another month same again .

By this time the first litter are maturing . 1 month on a another litter is born ..now any females from same litter can become pregnant ...

In 6 months you could have rather a lot of bunnies on your hands ....do the maths yourself and work it out .

Act responsibly ...get your rabbits neutered . !!! PLEASE don't add to the problem of the thousands of unwanted rabbits every year.

All rabbits rehomed by BARC are neutered / spayed .

Blog Replaced by new FORUM:~

As of 24th February 2008 the BARC Blogspot will be replaced with a  more interactive FORUM page. Here you will be able to post messages on any subject relating to BARC, or indeed your opinion and thoughts about the same for the staff to answer.

In company with the new survey/feedback page we will be making changes about the way we work based directly upon what you tell us. So, don't miss the opportunity to 'air' your views and REALLY make a difference to how we do our business - rescuing animals!

Just click the FORUM or Feedback link and leave your message. If its on the FORUM, you'll see the subject progress steadily, OR perhaps even speedily, over the coming days, dependant on your subject matter.

Increasing Cat thefts in Rotherham:~

In the last 6 months there has been a number of cats been stolen from the Bramley/Sunnyside area of Rotherham.  This began last year when there were nearly 40 reports of stolen cats in two months.  One lady  had  three cats stolen over the space of  4 months last year.  Rawmarsh police were informed and are aware of this problem, but cannot act as no one has reported anybody been seen stealing them.  If  anyone who has any information about these cat thefts in Rotherham or South Yorkshire they should contact the police on 01709 832426.
